Around 25,000 households in south-east Queensland were left lacking electricity on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms impacted the state, producing wind gusts topping 109 kilometers per hour.
Massive Hailstones and Extensive Damage
Residents observed substantial frozen pellets reaching sizes of 7cm in particular locations. Weather authorities announced that different parts across the state had been impacted by large hailstones.

State Emergency Services responded to nearly 600 emergency reports across the region, mostly for structural issues but also for fallen timber and inundation.

At one point on yesterday, over 28,000 electricity consumers in the state were experiencing outages.
Meteorological Predictions
Humid circumstances were expected to linger along significant areas of eastern Queensland this next several days as a atmospheric system continued to draw in moisture against the coastal areas.
Tuesday was expected to become the heaviest precipitation period, with continued storm activity anticipated across various areas of both areas.
Health Warning
Public health experts warned that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the countryside regions, especially given the current weather patterns.
This warning comes after historical occurrences where analogous circumstances led to major medical consequences in the state.
